Brian Laws is hoping to have key duo Steven Fletcher and Graham Alexander fit for Burnley's game against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Scotland pair did not feature for the national team in their 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic on Wednesday night, but both have shown signs of recovery and are pencilled in to make the trip to North London.
Fletcher sustained a broken bone in his hand when training with the Scotland squad on Monday, while Alexander is on the road to recovery from a calf injury that has kept him out for the past five games.
"Fletcher trained with the Scotland squad in the early part of the week and fell and broke a bone in his hand," said Burnley boss Laws.
"We brought him back immediately so the doctor could have a look at him and we are fairly confident that he should be OK for the weekend.
"A lot of players who have these kind of injuries have had a plaster cast on, some form of light protection, so let's wait and see and hopefully he will be OK."
Invaluable
Laws was also adamant that the return of Clarets skipper Alexander would be of huge benefit to his team against the Gunners, who are currently in the mix for the Premier League title.
"We have missed his vocal support on the pitch and his organisation," he added.
"He is a player who does the right thing at the right time. We have missed him and it will be good to get him back in the team.
"That's no disrespect to the other players, it's just that he has the knowledge of the game.
"That's something we are going to need because we need to be organised and we need to have good communication, particularly with the way Arsenal play.
"He's been invaluable to the team this season and I think we've missed him when he's been out of it."
