Peter Crouch says he is just focused on making the England squad for the World Cup, and is not yet thinking about whether he will make the starting line-up.
The Tottenham striker came off the bench at half-time on Wednesday to bag two goals and fire England to a 3-1 win over Egypt at Wembley.
Although Spurs team-mate Jermain Defoe started the game up front alongside Wayne Rooney, Crouch's performance could convince Three Lions boss Fabio Capello to opt with the tall forward from kick-off in the future, although Emile Heskey may be preferred by the Italian.
Crouch's brace took his record at international level to 20 goals in 37 games, and he is optimistic on his England future.
When asked if he expected to be coming off the bench in South Africa, he told Sky Sports News: "I don't know to be honest. Obviously first and foremost it would be great to be on the plane, to be in the squad for the World Cup.
"I'll do the best I can when called upon, hopefully I've given the manager something to think about.
"Obviously all of us want to start games and be involved right from the off in the World Cup, there's no prouder moment than to play in the World Cup for your country.
"I'm no different to anyone, obviously you prefer to be starting games. It would be fantastic to reach a World Cup final and hopefully I can be a part of that."
Going into the break 1-0 down against the Pharaohs, England put in an excellent second-half display and ran out worthy winners.
After a few weeks of incessant off-field headlines, Crouch insists there were no distractions ahead of the match.
"There were no distractions, we met up much like it was any other squad, there was nothing different," he added.
"When we met up we were all focused on the job in hand, the Egypt game, and obviously getting the right result and nothing else affected us.
"Egypt in the first half passed the ball well and they are a dangerous side. They were difficult to play against in the first half and in the second half I think we showed are quality and fully deserved the win."
