Sheffield United forward Ched Evans has revealed he is ahead of schedule in his comeback from injury and that he wants to return to training next week.
Initial fears suggested the Wales international broke his collarbone last week against Peterborough after a collision with opposing goalkeeper Joe Lewis.
But the £3million signing from Manchester City did not suffer a break and is close to making a comeback sooner than expected.
"I've been to the surgeon and they said four to six weeks but I am feeling good so hopefully it will be sooner than that," he told the Sheffield Star.
"I'm ahead of schedule; my target is to come back next week. I always heal fast so now I just want to finish the season on a high."
The Blades face an intriguing encounter on Tuesday as Blackpool are the visitors to Bramall Lane.
With both sides harbouring hopes of a play-off finish this season, United will be hoping to get one over on their promotion rivals and climb above them in the table.
"It is a big game but our home record is phenomenal," Evans added. "I'm confident that we will go out and win and show how good we are.
"This is our chance to turn results around. Everybody has a couple of bad results. Hopefully we have had our sticky patch."
