Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he is delighted to welcome back one of the most exciting young strikers he has ever worked with in Federico Macheda.
The Italy Under 21 star has returned to fitness after an injury-ridden season at Old Trafford, making his Premier League comeback as a late substitute in Saturday's 4-0 win over Bolton.
The timing of Macheda's return to action could not be more appropriate - marking a year since the 18-year-old burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion.
The youngster netted a crucial injury-time winner against Aston Villa last April and scored another vital effort at Sunderland a week later to help the Red Devils to the title.
The loss of fellow striker Michael Owen to a season-ending injury has left Ferguson with a strikeforce lacking in numbers and the United boss is keen for the teenager to play his part for the remainder of the campaign.
"Macheda has had a terrible season with injuries," said Ferguson.
"But he came back on Saturday and I am delighted about that because without question he is one of the most exciting young strikers I have had in my time at Manchester United.
"His ability about the box for a young player is outstanding."
