Darron Gibson says Manchester United must shrug off their UEFA Champions League disappointment and not let it interfere with their Premier League title bid.
The Irishman opened the scoring for United on Wednesday as they looked set to make it into the last four of the Champions League, but having been 3-0 up they conceded twice to Bayern Munich and went out on away goals after a 4-4 aggregate draw.
Gibson insists that United cannot dwell on their Champions League exit and must concentrate on their push for the title as they now trail leaders Chelsea by two points with five games remaining.
"We cannot lie down and let the whole season go. It is either that or we stand up and fight and go for the championship," said Gibson ahead of United's game with Blackburn on Sunday.
"I cannot describe the disappointment but we have to pick ourselves up for Blackburn Rovers on Sunday. We are still in the race for the title.
"We have the experience in the dressing room to stand up and fight back.
"There are lads in there who have been in this position before and done it before.
"We have the characters and experienced players to pick ourselves up and I think we will be all right."
