Birmingham will launch an appeal against Spanish midfielder Michel's red card whilst appearing for the reserves.
Referee Marvyn Amphlett gave the player his marching orders for what was seen by the club as an innocuous looking challenge on Chelsea youngster Danny Mills.
Michel, who was signed by Blues boss Alex McLeish from Sporting Gijon in January has made seven appearances since his £3million move, five of which have been off the bench.
It is feared that the 24-year-old's dismissal against Chelsea for the club's second team at St Andrews on Wednesday will lead to the player having to serve a three-game ban in the Premier League.
If the decision stands, under FA non-first team disciplinary regulations, then the player will miss the Blues' local derby against Aston Villa, as well as games against Burnley and Bolton.
Birmingham have confirmed that they are going to contest the decision for wrongful dismissal by submitting evidence to the FA by 12th April.
