Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce plans to give Yildiray Basturk a chance to impress between now and the end of the season.
Former Bolton boss Allardyce moved for the German-born Turkish midfielder in January on a short-term contract after his deal with Stuttgart was terminated.
Basturk is yet to feature under Allardyce's improving Rovers side and his chances of securing a long-term stay appear to be dwindling as time progresses.
However, with Blackburn now guaranteed another year of Premier League football, Allardyce has stated he will give the 31-year-old a chance to impress in the coming weeks.
Fit and well
"He played for the reserves last week and he is fit and well again after a niggling injury," Allardyce told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"It is very difficult to put him into my team based on the fact of the strength and depth of the squad I have available now.
"I have got 22 players to choose from and having never played in the Premier League it is difficult to find a place for him.
"Manchester United was not the right time but before the end of the season I do expect to give him a run out somewhere to see if he can show us the sort of qualities we know he has had during his career in Germany."
