Germany head coach Joachim Low insists his faith in Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski's ability has not wavered.
The pair are likely to make Germany's 23-man World Cup squad for South Africa this summer despite struggling for form this season.
Klose and Podolski greatly impressed in the 2006 World Cup finals on home soil and will bring invaluable experience to Low's squad.
Their downturn in form means Low is mulling over recalling Schalke's Kevin Kuranyi despite stating he would never call him up again.
"I know that they have not had very much success this season, but I have no doubts about their quality," he told
Kicker magazine.
Kuranyi has 18 goals from 30 league outings and the pressure on Low to recall the 28-year-old is immense despite his prior indiscipline.
Debate
Schalke boss Felix Magath has stuck his oar into the Kuranyi recall debate, something Low believes he should stay well out of.
"I am still considering it and I will certainly reveal my choice before May 6," he said on Kuranyi's situation.
"I might be looking to talk to Kevin Kuranyi in person. I may not be looking to talk to Kevin Kuranyi in person. I don't know yet.
"But the squad announcement cannot be overshadowed by the issue of Kuranyi.
"Felix Magath is doing a brilliant job at Schalke and should focus on his own club.
"We know how to handle the situation while for him there is much to do, for example signing Kuranyi on a new contract."
