Oldham boss Dave Penney admits he would consider turning Lewis Guy's loan spell at Boundary Park into a permanent arrangement.
The pacy front-man, on loan at Oldham from Doncaster until the end of the season, has impressed at the League One strugglers since being reunited with Penney, whom he worked under at Rovers.
To date he has bagged three goals in his eight appearances, including the winner in Saturday's success at Carlisle United.
Guy's contract at Doncaster expires in the summer and Penney concedes he is weighing up whether to offer the 24-year-old a long-term deal.
"Lewis doesn't score enough goals and he knows that," Penney told the club's
official website.
"He hasn't scored enough at Doncaster and that is what has held him back.
"He is bright, sharp and lively and he causes centre-halves problems. At this moment in time he is bright for us and he is taking his chances.
"I am pleased for him as he is a Carlisle boy and it was nice for him to score in front of his family.
"He is out of contract (at the end of the season) and there are a lot of players out of contract.
"It depends if you can afford them. We will have a good look and find out what the budget is to see what we can do with players who are out of contract."
Meanwhile, Keigan Parker is back at Oldham after a month-long loan at Bury but he will not play again this term as he has picked up an ankle injury.
