Rangers manager Walter Smith has quashed rumours that a deal for defender Danny Wilson could be struck with Liverpool.
Reports have suggested that the young Gers centre-back could move to Anfield and be loaned back to Ibrox next season.
However, Smith says the hot-prospect, who is currently sidelined with a thigh strain, will hopefully be staying at the club.
When asked if the scenario was possible, he said: "I don't think that's the case.
"I don't think in any circumstances would we allow that to happen."
Rangers are currently strapped for cash and their poor financial position means they may find it hard to keep hold of their best players when the transfer window opens in the summer.
And Smith conceded that all Scottish clubs will find it difficult to keep the stars north of the border.

"What we are seeing is something that Scottish teams just have to put up with.
"For years, the Old Firm were in a situation where we could go and take players from other Scottish clubs.
"Now the English clubs are seeing that they can come and take players from
"It's just something that's happening, I don't think it's got anything particularly to do with Rangers' situation."
Regarding the Gers current situation, Smith remarked: "I can make it quite clear to everybody.
"We don't have an opportunity to sign any players at the present moment. After the season finishes, we might sit down and see where the club is going to go.
"Any speculation that's there at the present moment is purely that."
