Manchester City hope Shay Given will be fit for the start of next season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The City goalkeeper went under the knife on Wednesday evening after dislocating his left shoulder saving Abou Diaby's shot in the second-half of last weekend's goalless draw with Arsenal.
City have revealed on their club website that the early indications suggest the three-hour surgery on the 34-year-old's shoulder and ligaments was a success and the Irish shot-stopper should be able to start rehabilitation soon.
Given had been an ever-present in the league and City boss Roberto Mancini has drafted in Sunderland's Marton Fulop on an emergency loan to cover for the former Newcastle stalwart.
