Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili is hoping he can secure a move back to Reading next season.

Defender planning talks over future in the coming weeks

Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili is hoping he can secure a move back to Reading next season. Khizanishvili made 15 appearances for Reading after joining on loan in January, having earlier spent a spell at Newcastle United. He enjoyed his time at the Madejski Stadium and has spoken to Royals boss Brian McDermott about the prospect of rejoining the club. The Georgia international has 12 months left on his Blackburn contract and expects a decision on his future to be made in the coming weeks.

Pleasure

"I have spoken to Brian McDermott and I hope to be back," said Khizanishvili. "But it's not definite as I still have a one-year contract at Blackburn so it's 50-50 I would say. "I have a game with the national team at the end of May and my agent is coming to talk with Blackburn and Reading, so we have to wait and see. "I thought when I came here the club was in a bad situation and it's not easy for a new player coming in with it like that. It's not easy at any level to go from zero to hero like Reading have. It's a really good achievement. It has been a pleasure to play with the boys and meet so many decent guys."
