Outspoken Joey Gudjonsson has left relegated Burnley by mutual consent as the club prepare for life outside of the top-flight.
The Icelandic midfielder's departure comes after he was suspended by the Clarets for a fortnight last month following criticism of manager Brian Laws prior to the 4-1 win at Hull.
The 29-year-old claimed the former Sheffield Wednesday boss had lost the dressing room after taking over following Owen Coyle's departure in January, an allegation the club vehemently denied.
Gudjonsson's contract was due to expire in the summer but he has reached an agreement to leave Turf Moor with immediate effect.
He scored seven goals in 109 appearances after joining the Clarets in the summer of 2007, but made only one league start this term.
The club said on their official website: "Burnley Football Club would like to thank Joey for his service during a historic time in the club's history and wish him every success in his future career."
