Nemanja Vidic has admitted that Manchester United can do nothing but focus on their clash with Stoke and hope Chelsea slip up at home to Wigan.
Carlo Ancelotti's Blues head into the final day of the season in pole position to claim Premier League glory and need only to beat the Latics at Stamford Bridge to seal top spot.
Anything less than victory would leave the door open for United and Vidic is determined to pick up three points.
"It does not depend on us. Obviously we are looking for Wigan to do something," the Serbian defender told Sky Sports News.
"Chelsea have the last game at home and if they win they will have the title.
"But we will focus on our game. It is our last game in front of our crowd and we want to give them a good game. If it happens, it happens."
Vidic also echoed Sir Alex Ferguson's view that 'one bad week' could prove costly in the final reckoning.
United crashed out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich in early April and also lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea in the Premier League.
"I have the feeling that in ten days we lost the chance," said Vidic.
"At the beginning of the season we knew it would be hard to win the Premier League for a fourth time in a row.
"We have had a few injuries which did not help, and I hope next year we will be all fit."
