French defender Bernard Mendy has become the first player to head out of the Hull City exit door.
The 28-year-old full-back moved to the KC Stadium on a free transfer in July 2008 on the back of the Tigers' promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
Mendy made 56 appearances during his two-year spell in East Yorkshire and played a key role in their survival in the 2008-09 campaign, including goals against Manchester United and West Brom.
But after financially-troubled Hull's relegation this term, the Tigers have decided to part ways with the former Paris St Germain right-back.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Everybody at Hull City would like to thank Bernard for his efforts during the two seasons at the KC Stadium and we wish him well for the future."
Mendy could be the first of many to leave the Tigers in the summer as they prepare for life in the Championship with the likes of Jimmy Bullard, Stephen Hunt and Dean Marney all linked with moves away.
The club's head of football operations Adam Pearson last week put a proposal to players which would see them defer a proportion of their wages in the short term to ease the burden over the summer months.
