Cameroon ace set for Scottish stay

Celtic are hoping to thrash out a permanent deal for Landry Nguemo within the next 24 hours. The SPL side are to meet representatives of Nancy on Wednesday to agree a fee for the 24-year-old defensive midfielder. The two clubs will hold talks in Paris to conclude terms on the £1.8m buy-out clause on the Cameroon international's loan deal before it expires this month. Celtic face competition for Nguemo from Premier League duo Sunderland and Wigan but the Hoops remain firm favourites to land their man. "Celtic have requested a meeting with us to discuss Nguemo's future," said Nancy president Jacques Rousselot in the Daily Record. "There has been interest from some English clubs but we have to listen to what Celtic have to say as they have first option on the player." Nguemo, who has been a mainstay in the Celtic engine room making 43 starts this season, spoke of his desire to stay at Parkhead last week.
