Mark van Bommel believes Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal is looked upon as an inspiration by Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho.
Ahead of Saturday's UEFA Champions League final clash between Bayern and Inter in Madrid, Dutch midfielder Van Bommel suggested Van Gaal has been a major influence on Mourinho's career.
Mourinho worked under Van Gaal at Barcelona a decade ago and Bayern captain Van Bommel feels the former Chelsea manager has adopted many of his old mentor's tactics.
"Mourinho looks at Van Gaal a lot," said Van Bommel.
"Van Gaal has a lot of experience and I think Mourinho uses some of his tactics - he looks at him a lot (for inspiration)."
Van Bommel also stressed that Bayern will be positive in the Santiago Bernabeu, despite acknowledging the threat of players such as his compatriot Wesley Sneijder.
He added: "Inter have very good attacking players like Sneijder and we will have to be alert, but now the final is here and we want to be the ones attacking.
"The final is just one match and it is better not to sit back, even if mentally we have a very solid team that is capable of coming from behind."
Bayern and Inter are both going for a treble of league, cup and Champions League and Bastian Schweinsteiger hopes the German side can end the season with a historic third title.
Schweinsteiger said: "We already have two titles and now the two (clubs) have the chance to win a third.
"We have character, mentality and perfectionism and if we are able to show that tomorrow, we will have gone a long way to achieving (the treble).
"We know it's a historic occasion because we have the chance to win the three titles. We are all focused and keen to go out and play the final - and win it."
