Robbie Blake has confirmed he will be leaving Burnley after rejecting the offer of a new contract at Turf Moor.
The veteran attacker was offered a 12-month deal with the option of a further year providing he made 20 appearances next season.
However, Blake is disappointed with the terms that are on the table and believes his performances for the club merited a straight two-year contract.
"I am very disappointed because I was really hoping to get the two-year contract," the 34-year-old told the club's
official website.
"The number of games I have played over the past few years led me to believe I deserved that, but I have to respect the decision.
"I am a little surprised that there is a feeling I need an incentive because I feel I am motivated.
"I don't really know what the future holds though. I haven't turned down this contract for something elsewhere. That's why I've been holding out."
Special memory
Blake, who has scored 72 goals in 278 appearances during two spells with Burnley, will look back fondly on his time at Turf Moor.
He added: "Obviously I am very grateful what Burnley Football Club has done for me and I hope I have gone some way towards repaying them.
"They have a brilliant chairman, along with all the staff. I love all the folk around the club and I feel I have a special rapport with the fans, who I would like to thank enormously.
"I have loved every minute of being here and although the club has moved on, I really don't feel it is much different in terms of how it is run.
"It's been a joy to be a part of the football club and being here will always be a special memory to me."
