Leicester City have made Rochdale defender Tom Kennedy their first piece of summer transfer business.
The 24-year-old has joined the Foxes as a free agent and has penned a three-year contract.
He leaves Spotland after three years of loyal service, during which time he made over 100 appearances and helped the club secure promotion out of League Two in 2009/10 for the first time in 41 years.
Kennedy has also turned out for Bury, having started his career with the Shakers, and has earned a reputation as one of the finest full-backs outside of the Premier League.
Decision
He will now get the opportunity to further enhance his growing reputation by testing himself at Championship level.
Numerous second tier clubs were believed to be in the market once it became apparent he would be moving on, but Kennedy insists Leicester were always his preferred choice.
"I'd met with a few clubs, but three or four weeks ago I spoke to Steve Walsh (Leicester's head of recruitment) and then told my agent this is where I wanted to play," he told the club's
official website.
"It was a pretty straightforward decision in the end, the other clubs were good clubs but when Leicester City come calling you don't turn them down."
