Magpies trio sign extended contracts

Notts County trio Craig Westcarr, Stephen Hunt and Mike Edwards have all signed new two-year deals with the club. Westcarr scored nine times in 33 appearances last term while Hunt and Edwards were sterling at the back. The defensive duo helped County towards 27 clean sheets, a contribution that saw them promoted as League Two winners. Chief executive officer Jim Rodwell admitted his delight in agreeing fresh deals for all three players. He also said the club were looking to add further to their current pool as they prepare for life in the third tier of English football. "We're obviously delighted that three such key players, who played such an important part in securing the League Two title last season, have agreed to stay with the club next term and we see this as a massive boost for everyone involved with the club," he told the club's official website. "The hard work is continuing behind the scenes to bring in new faces to complement the current squad, but securing these three players on new deals is a massive step forwards in our preparations for next season as we look to build on the momentum of last year."
