French veteran to give career one more shot

Claude Makelele has agreed to play one final season with Paris St Germain to end his career with a Ligue 1 title. The former French international had been the subject of speculation regarding his future after failing to agree new terms at the Parc des Princes, however the 37-year-old veteran had announced he will play on for one more year. Despite his age, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea man played 31 times for PSG last season, also helping his team to victory in the French Cup. After much speculation over his future, Makelele insisted he was happy to stay with the capital club, highlighting coach Antoine Kombouare and owner Robin Leproux as key reasons behind his decision. "I'm relieved, because I believe in this club," Makelele told Canal Plus. "There will be some important recruitment and the target is interesting - to make this an important club again in France. "I share the ambitions of the coach and the club."
