Midfielder hopeful of featuring versus Switzerland

Andres Iniesta is optimistic of featuring in Spain's first game of the 2010 World Cup after upping the ante in his recovery from injury. The Barcelona schemer recently suffered a thigh strain and has been training alone as part of his path back to full fitness. It had been expected that Iniesta would completely miss Wednesday's Group H match with Switzerland, but the playmaker is hopeful of being at coach Vicente del Bosque's disposal. Iniesta said in an interview with TVE television: "Little by little I am doing more and the feeling is good. "Let's see how things go the next few days and I hope I will have a chance to play." Chief doctor Oscar Luis Celada told television station Telecinco after Saturday's morning training session at Spain's base in Potchefstroom: "Andres is progressing very well with the minor muscular problem he sustained. "We still don't know if he'll be fit for the Switzerland match but the feelings are positive. "There are still a few days before the World Cup starts for us and there is time to decide."
