Defender aiming to build on impressive debut season

Darryl Westlake has committed his future to Walsall by signing a new two-year contract with the League One club. The right-back enjoyed an impressive debut season in 2009/10 and was named the club's Young Player of the Year. He follows Alex Nicholls and Richard Taundry in agreeing to stay at the Banks's Stadium and is aiming to build on the last campaign. Westlake said: "I am pleased to get two years. I can't wait for pre-season to get under way and then the matches to start again. "I was delighted with the way that last season went for me. "If I'm being totally honest, I didn't expect to play in as many games as I did and now I want to build upon it, play even more games during the season ahead and generally keep progressing."
