South Africa midfielder Steven Pienaar insists he will not surrender to fatigue as he continues his dream of playing at the World Cup.
The Everton star earned rave reviews for his performances in the Premier League in the 2009/10 season and he has been linked with a move to UEFA Champions League qualifiers Tottenham.
But Pienaar looked a little jaded for his country in the hosts' World Cup curtain-raiser against Mexico on Friday and he was ultimately substituted by manager Carlos Alberto Parreira in the second half.
The 28-year-old confesses that he is feeling tired after a gruelling domestic season but, ahead of Wednesday's match against Uruguay, which could prove vital to hopes of qualifying from a tight Group A, he will not be taking rest.
He said: "I played a lot of games in the last months and my legs are tired.
"But as long as my mind and my heart are willing, I'll keep pushing myself as hard as I can go.
"It's a league of high intensity and when you are coming off a tough season, it's normal that sometimes the body gives in.
"But for a tournament like the World Cup, you want to give your best and you can't let your body hold you back. You just have to push on."
