Huddersfield Town have snapped up veteran goalkeeper Ian Bennett following his release by Sheffield United.
Bennett spent the past four years at Bramall Lane, making 24 appearances, but was allowed to leave the Championship club at the end of last season.
He has now secured a move to Huddersfield and Terriers boss Lee Clark expects the 38-year-old to provide competition for current No.1 Alex Smithies.
"I knew I would need to bring another goalkeeper in this summer and Ian fits the criteria for the position precisely," Clark told the club's official website.
"I wanted someone to provide Alex Smithies with genuine competition for the position in the starting XI and Ian will definitely do that, but he also has bags of experience, knowledge and know-how that our young goalkeepers will benefit from massively each day in training.
"I'm delighted that we can welcome Ian to the club and I believe he will contribute massively this season as we push for promotion to the Championship."
Bennett becomes the second player to join Huddersfield from the Blades this summer after left-back Gary Naysmith agreed a move to the Galpharm Stadium.
