Joe Cole insists England do not fear Germany in their second-round clash and believes they have enough momentum to go all the way to the World Cup final.
The Three Lions left it until the last game to book their place in the knock-out stages of the South Africa finals and they square-off against their old rivals Germany in Bloemfontein for a place in the last eight.
Cole, who came on as a late substitute in the final Group C game against Slovenia, revealed there is a buoyant mood in Fabio Capello's camp.
And the 28-year-old thinks a win at the Free State Stadium is all England need to prove they can make the 11th July showpiece at Soccer City.
The midfielder said: "The competition is always enjoyable but now it's all about saying to ourselves, 'let's just go for it'. Who knows what can happen?
"Now we have momentum and if we win three games we'll be in the final. When you get to the knockout phase it's all about what happens on the day. You just cannot predict anything.
"Look at New Zealand getting a result versus world champions Italy in the group stages. These things happen."
Cole is desperate to make a bigger contribution in the latter stages of the tournament.
But the creative midfielder, who is expected to be named on the bench once again, is ready to wait in the wings for his chance.
"It's been lovely to play a part because I've been itching to get on," He added.
"There's been so much nervous energy across the whole country but the boys did the job to get to the second round and I hope I've done my bit, even as a sub."
