Germany hero Thomas Muller admits his side rode their luck in their controversial 4-1 win over England in the second round World Cup clash.
At 2-1 England thought they had equalised when Frank Lampard struck the crossbar and the ball bounced well behind the goalline, but the referee failed to award the goal.
Germany took advantage of their lucky escape with Bayern Munich youngster Muller scoring twice in the second half to end England's World Cup dreams.
Muller concedes luck was on Germany's side with the controversial Lampard effort, but felt his side improved after going 3-1 up.
"Against England you'll give up goal chances at some point," said Muller. "They have so many good players.
"We had some luck and took the lead. After we went 3-1 up, we improved and the match was soon over after that.
"Now anything is possible, even if there is a tough nut waiting for us. But that doesn't matter, we just have to clean the way. This result is madness.
DeservedMiroslav Klose, who scored Germany's first goal, hailed his side's display and has set his sights on reaching the semi-finals with either Argentina or Mexico next up for Germany in the quarter-finals.
"I was very impressed with the performance today," said Klose. "In this match we were on top of things from the start, we were totally into the match and we deserved to win.
"We'll see how we do in the next match. Our goal is to get the semi-finals. We'll see what happens from there."
