Wolves may abandon their attempt to sign Chelsea utility player Michael Mancienne.
Mancienne has been on loan at Molineux for the past two seasons, impressing at both centre-back and in midfield, and it was thought the Premier League side were going to test Carlo Ancelotti's resolve after making an enquiry for the England U-21 international.
But Chelsea are keeping Wolves in the dark over whether they are prepared to let the 22-year-old go - either permanently or for a third loan spell.
And it appears that Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has lost patience with the Blues, just 48 hours after the club said they were willing to wait on the Blues youngster.
The Irish tactician, who has already been linked with St Etienne midfielder Guirane N'Daw, said: "I've been asked about Michael Mancienne, but we've done business and signed a centre-half in Steven Mouyokolo.
Won't hang around
"I can't hang around waiting for decisions to be made that might be negative ones.
"I could lose the ones that I've been looking at so I don't know what will happen with that one (Mancienne).
"There might be more signings and we're still looking."
Mancienne had an initial loan period at Wolves when helping them gain promotion from the Championship 14 months ago.
He was brought in as a central defender but the form of Jody Craddock and Christophe Berra meant he was then employed in the holding midfield role during the second half of last season.
