Former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes is set to leave Marseille after the last year of his contract was cancelled.
The veteran forward struggled to command a regular starting role with the Ligue 1 champions last season, playing just 12 times and scoring a solitary goal.
The 34-year-old is a three-times Champions League winner with Real Madrid, also scoring 27 goals in 47 international appearances for Spain.
Morientes was part of the Liverpool squad which won the 2005 European Super Cup and the 2006 FA Cup, and managed 12 goals in 61 appearances during his time under manager Rafa Benitez at Anfield.
His career has also taken him to Zaragoza, Valencia and Monaco, however, his spell under former Monaco boss Didier Deschamps at the Stade Velodrome was a disappointing period for the experienced marksman.
Morientes could now be headed to Mexico after his agent claimed that interest has been shown in him by Club America.
