Holland international Nigel De Jong has expressed his sadness at missing out on their World Cup semi-final clash with Uruguay.
The no-nonsense Manchester City midfielder is suspended against the South Americans for picking up his second booking of the tournament against Brazil.
De Jong was showing a yellow card for hauling down Robinho, something that surprised him as it was his first tackle of the quarter-final match.
The 25-year-old has urged his team-mates to now see off Uruguay meaning he will be available for the final and not the third-placed match.
"It's sad to miss the semi-final," De Jong told his personal website.
"Of course I wanted to play every game, especially a semi-final. That's a very important game.
"I am so disappointed. Of course I knew that I could get a yellow card, but it was my first foul in the game.
"I knew the referee was very eager to give a yellow or red card, but there was nothing I could do.
"I told them in the dressing room they'd have to pull their socks up as I was not going to miss the semi-final only to end up playing in the match for third place."
