Germany forward Miroslav Klose admits his side could have done more against Spain during their semi-final defeat.
Spanish centre-back Carles Puyol headed a late goal during the last-four clash on Wednesday to ensure his side's passage to the final, where they will take on the Netherlands.
And 32-year-old Klose, who netted four goals in the tournament ahead of the semis, believes the Germans never fully managed to pin down their opponents.
Mistakes
"We needed to force Spain more into making mistakes but we didn't do that," said Klose.
"They had so much of the ball that we never stopped running around after them."
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer believes his side lacked the courage needed to see off the Spaniards.
"We didn't quite have the courage we needed," said Neuer. "We didn't show enough attacking intent and we failed to create enough chances.
"We have scored before half-time in almost all our matches, which was always a boost to our confidence but this was different."
Substitute Marcell Jansen believes Spain represented a step-up in class his young team-mates were unable to contend with.
Tactics
"Spain's organisation and tactics are in a different league," said Jansen.
"When they attack, the whole team comes forward, and when they defend, they all work together to keep it tight.
"We knew we would have to be patient but we might have tried taking a few more risks.
"Ultimately we've come up a little bit short."
