Goalkeeper Sebastien Frey will not be leaving Fiorentina, according to officials at the club.
Frey's future at Viola was thrown into doubt following the announcement of a deal for Artur Boruc earlier this week.
Speculation had circulated that the Frenchman was ready to quit the Serie A club but the Italians have moved quickly to quash any talk of a move.
The 30-year-old still has three seasons remaining on his current deal at Artemio Franchi and Fiorentina denied they wanted to sell the shot-stopper.
Club administrator Sandro Mencucci said: "The arrival of Boruc doesn't change anything.
"Sebastien is not for sale and Fiorentina does not wish to see him leave."
Frey joined the Florence outfit in 2006 from Parma and has been the club's first-choice keeper since his switch.
The deal for Boruc and reports of interest from Arsenal have added to the unrest, but Frey's agent has stepped in to quash the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Carlo Pallavicino added: "It's a delicate situation, although I believe Fiorentina have not signed Boruc to replace Frey but to give the latter an added motivation.
"I believe Sebastien will remain in Florence. He has not asked to leave the club."
