Paul Scholes insists Manchester United's number one priority this season is to regain their Premier League title from Chelsea.
The Red Devils were gunning for a fourth consecutive crown last term only to be pipped by The Blues at the death.
United have been busy in the transfer market this summer in recruiting Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling and they are again expected to challenge for top spot come the end of the season.
Scholes, who could be in his last year for the Old Trafford side, insists that regaining their crown is top of the club's agenda, although he has acknowledged the chasing pack have strengthened as well.
The likes of Tottenham and Manchester City made great strides last term and the seasoned veteran has acknowledged the 'big four' are unlikely to get it all their own way this term.
Back on track
"We'll have to see how it goes but, as a team, we want to get back on track after finishing second to Chelsea last season," Scholes told the Daily Mirror.
"It wasn't great for us. Obviously we would have liked to have won the league, but the injuries we had last year were a massive blow for us.
"We just hope we can stay injury-free next season, play a bit better and hopefully win some more trophies.
"It's always been a competitive league and last season showed that. Spurs had a bit more money to spend and they spent it well.
"They managed to get into the Champions League, which is difficult to do in England because there are so many tough places to go and strong teams to play against.
"Obviously Manchester City, with all their money, just missed out on the Champions League, but I'm sure they will be right up there again this season."
