Goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou has been handed a one-year contract at Preston following a successful trial.
The former England youth international has spent the last fortnight with the Lilywhites and turned out in Friday's 3-1 victory over Chorley.
His showing that night, coupled with his efforts in training, have convinced Lilywhites boss Darren Ferguson that he is worthy of a deal.
The 20-year-old began his career with Blackburn at the age of 11, before moving to Shrewsbury at the start of the 2009/10 campaign.
Arestidou has now completed a return to the North West, and has expressed his delight at earning a contract at Deepdale.
He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to sign the deal.
"I was out of contract this summer so I was really looking forward to getting the chance to come on trial at Preston.
"I wanted to do really well and hopefully I have done that now. I'm quite lucky in getting a deal here, but this is an opportunity for me to push on."
