Yaya Toure has been told by his brother Kolo that he must learn to control his aggression in the Premier League.
Having arrived from Barcelona earlier this summer, the younger Toure is now preparing for his first season in English football.
He is expected to thrive in the key battleground of central midfield, although there is a concern that he could lose his temper.
Kolo, who has plied his trade in the Premier League for eight years, believes his brother will be targeted and has offered a word of warning.
"His weakness is his lack of self-composure, of course. Even though I keep telling him there's no point getting wound up on the pitch," Kolo told the News of the World.
"His opponents are starting to know that he sometimes loses his composure, so they won't hesitate to provoke him. It's down to him to ignore them.
"After repeating this and harping on about it, thankfully he has calmed down a bit. He will be targeted straightaway here, I have warned him about it."
The Toure brothers will line up in a new-look City side this season after a summer spending spree from manager Roberto Mancini.
Mancini has bolstered his ranks with a number of high-profile signings but will now have to think about trimming his squad to meet league rules.
"I know that we must sell some players because in 20 days we must have a list with 25 players," said Mancini, who currently has 37 first-team players on his books.
"I am disappointed because some players must change teams now. It is difficult for them to play for us.
"When you play in four competitions you must have a large squad because if not you have difficulties. For this it's important we have 25 players."
