City boss says stopper will leave club in coming days

Bristol City manager Steve Coppell has confirmed defender Bradley Orr is set to leave the club. Liverpudlian stopper Orr did not feature in the Robins squad that lost 3-0 in a pre-season friendly at Aldershot on Saturday. And Coppell revealed after that match that the 27-year-old is poised to leave Ashton Gate in the coming days. "It looks like Bradley will be leaving the club," Coppell told City's official website. "I couldn't include him (in the squad) because we've near enough finalised details on a move. "Brad is the kind of player I would love to keep at the club but he has a seed in his mind that he wants a fresh challenge. He only has a year left on his contract and that leaves us vulnerable. "Brad gives everything and I don't doubt anything he's done in pre-season and during my dealings with him. He really wants a move though and it's likely that will happen this week."

Exit

Midfielder Paul Hartley is also set to depart the West Country club after telling Coppell he is keen on an SPL switch. "Do you keep a player who wants to leave? It's very hard to get replacements in the time period we've had," added Coppell. "Do you keep him here and have an unhappy player around the place, or make do without him?" On the subject of potential signings, Coppell refused to comment on speculation but added: "I think we're close with one, possibly two."
