Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has dashed Hull City's hopes of signing talented youngster Martyn Waghorn on loan this season.
The 20-year-old starred on loan at Leicester City last term and helped the club to within a whisker of the Championship play-off final.
Hull's new manager Nigel Pearson knows all about Waghorn having managed him last term at Leicester and was eager for a reunion in East Yorkshire.
The recently relegated Tigers had been linked with a move for the striker, talk that intensified after the teams met in a friendly on Saturday.
However, rather than increase Pearson's hopes of getting hold of Waghorn, Bruce says it is unlikely he will leave on loan again.
"The kid was outstanding on loan last season and now I think that 70 per cent of the Championship would like to take him," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I have said that his future is with us this year and nothing has changed. I wouldn't have thought I would be loaning him out this season."
One player on the move is Algerian forward Kamel Ghilas who is expected to leave Hull on loan in the next 48 hours.
Ghilas has three years left on his Tigers contract, but is being tipped to join a French side in order to help trim the club's wage bill.
