Nottingham Forest have denied that Kelvin Wilson has refused to play in the club's remaining pre-season games because he is trying to engineer a move to Celtic.
The 24-year-old defender has been linked with a switch to the Hoops and Neil Lennon's side reportedly had a bid of £1million turned down by the Championship outfit.
Wilson has been at the City Ground since 2007 and last season he started 35 league games for Forest as they lost out in the play-offs to Blackpool.
Manager Billy Davies insists the reason for the centre-back's current absence is a shin injury, despite the speculation.
"I can can confirm that Kelvin has got a shin injury which has forced him to miss the last couple of games," he told the club's official website.
"It would be difficult for him to go on strike when he's carrying an injury because he can't play anyway."
A club spokesman added: "We can confirm that Kelvin has an injury.
"He took part during the pre-season trip to Portugal but since he returned he has picked up a shin injury and that is the reason he has not played."
The spokesperson refused to comment on whether Celtic had made a formal offer for Wilson, but added: "We have no idea where these stories about going on strike have come from."
