Jackett appears ready to let striker move on

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has confirmed Brentford have made an offer to sign striker Gary Alexander. The 30-year-old was left out of Millwall's friendly against Hearts on Saturday and is set to hold talks over a move to Griffin Park. Alexander was restricted to just 15 appearances in League One last season and Jackett appears ready to let the forward move on following the club's promotion to the Championship. Jackett concedes there is no guarantee that Alexander will join Brentford and he is waiting for the outcome of further discussions early next week. "We've had a bid from Brentford for Gary and we're just in talks at the moment," said Jackett. "Myself and Gary spoke this morning and we thought that the best thing would be for him to miss out on this particular game while we have discussions. "It's not cut and dry, but we will have more talks early next week. It's a decision made out of respect for the player given that he isn't one that is necessarily first choice."
