Double blow for N.Ireland

Northern Ireland will be without captain Aaron Hughes and defender Gareth McAuley against Montenegro.

Captain and Ipswich defender sidelined

Northern Ireland have received a double blow with the news that captain Aaron Hughes and defender Gareth McAuley will miss Wednesday's friendly against Montenegro. Hughes is returning to Fulham after his inflamed Achilles was assessed by the medical team on Sunday night. Ipswich defender McAuley picked up a back injury in the victory over Middlesbrough at The Riverside on Saturday. It means three players have dropped out of the squad in total, with Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson being replaced by Alan Blayney of Linfield. Nigel Worthington's men will be looking to boost confidence ahead of the start of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. Northern Ireland have been drawn to face Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Estonia and Faroe Islands in Group C.
