Huddersfield Town chief executive Nigel Clibbens has dismissed reports linking the club with a move for Marlon Harewood.
Striker Harewood, 30, had been linked with a move to the League One outfit after being released by Aston Villa at the end of last season.
The powerful forward spent a spell on loan at Newcastle last term and has also been linked with Premier League new-boys Blackpool.
But Town chief executive Clibbens claims the Terriers are not interested in bringing him to the Galpharm.
"I was surprised to see that we were linked with Marlon Harewood," he told the club's official website. "He has never been a target.
"Regardless of that fact, some of the figures Huddersfield Town is reported as being willing to pay are totally ridiculous.
"Normally we don't give speculation a second thought, but reports like this bring our club and what we are trying to do here into disrepute.
"Throwing our name into articles seems routine and I suppose we should be flattered; however, in most cases - just like this - it is absolute nonsense."
