Ruptured Achilles sidelines summer signing

Fulham have been hit by the news that defender Philippe Senderos has been ruled out of action for six months. The former Arsenal stopper suffered the blow in training on Monday, ironically after pulling out of international duty with a minor toe injury. Senderos, who had reportedly been training alone, is due to undergo an operation in Finland after visiting the same specialist that repaired David Beckham's Achilles. The 25-year-old was brought to Craven Cottage by ex-manager Roy Hodgson and he was well placed to start the new Premier League season alongside Brede Hangeland. "It's incredible bad luck for Philippe. A hard blow to him personally, for the club, but also for the Swiss national team," said Swiss boss Ottmar Hitzfeld.
