Roberto Mancini admits it may take another 'two or three days' for Manchester City to wrap up a deal for James Milner.
The Blues have been chasing the Aston Villa winger for some time, with a long-running transfer saga having dragged on all summer.
Initially, a potential deal was held up by Villa's reluctance to sell, as they insisted that they had no intention of parting with their best players.
One bid from City, thought to be in the region of £20million, was subsequently knocked back and the matter went quiet as Milner jetted off for World Cup duty with England.
However, since his return from South Africa the issue has once again risen to the fore.
City have stepped up their interest in the versatile midfielder and have made it clear that they will not rest until they get their man.
Their persistence looks set to pay off, with a deal seemingly now in the pipeline.
Mancini is confident an agreement will be put in place in the next few days, with only a few minor issues still to be resolved.
It is believed that a pay-off due to Stephen Ireland, who is set to head to Villa as part of the deal, is proving to be a stumbling block, but one which should be settled fairly easily.
Mancini said: "We need another two or three days for this situation. We need everyone to be happy."
