Stoke manager Tony Pulis has revealed that Kenwyne Jones has an outside chance of facing Tottenham at the weekend.
The Potters striker, who only signed for the club earlier this month, limped off with an ankle problem against Wolves last Saturday.
There were fears initially that he could be sidelined for some time but scans revealed no serious damage.
Jones is now racing to be fit for the home clash with Spurs as Stoke look to get their first points on the board following defeat to Wolves.
Pulis has been pleased with Jones' progress over the past few days and will wait until nearer kick-off before making a decision on his involvement.
"He is much better," said Pulis. "I went running with him yesterday and managed to stay up with him, so he is still not as fit as he should be!
"But we are very pleased that it is not a serious injury."
Asked if Saturday's game might be too early for Jones, Pulis said: "I'm not sure. He ran yesterday and we were pleased - if he gets a reaction today, that will push him back a bit.
"But if there is no reaction then hopefully he can do a little bit more today and tomorrow, and he's got an outside chance."
