David Moyes has tipped new boy Jermaine Beckford to change Everton's fortunes following their poor start to the Premier League season.
The Toffees were mostly in charge at Goodison Park against Wolves on Saturday thanks to a Tim Cahill opener, but were denied the crucial three points when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake netted the equaliser 15 minutes from time.
And while full of praise for Cahill's efforts, manager Moyes also has high expectations for free transfer signing Beckford following his home debut.
"I thought Jermaine gave us something else. You can see he looks to be a threat and I'm sure he is going to get us goals," said Moyes, who withdrew Beckford to a standing ovation in the 71st minute.
"You've got to take your chances when you get them. We had some great chances to make it 2-0 in the second half. Tim Cahill played well but I don't know if we gave their 'keeper enough to do."
When asked whether he was disappointed over the Toffees' start to the season, Moyes replied with a clipped "yes", but was encouraged by his side's display in the opening 45 minutes against Wolves.
"I thought we played fine in the first half and probably then you could only see the victory going one way," added Moyes.
"But that's football, and that's what the Premier League does to you."
