Coventry are closing in on deals for free agent Marlon King and Bolton's Danny Ward. King has been training with the Sky Blues for the past few weeks following his release from prison in July after serving half of his 18-month sentence for sexual assault and causing actual bodily harm. Boss Aidy Boothroyd, who has a close relationship with the controversial striker having worked with him at Watford, is aiming to complete the deal on Friday. Boothroyd said: "I'm hoping, fingers crossed, we can get Marlon in for the weekend, we're very close now. "There are no problems at all, it's just a very delicate situation. It's not if, it's when. The quicker the better for me and I'm hoping we can do that."

Hopeful

Highly-rated Bolton winger Ward, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Swindon last season, is likely to conclude a loan deal which will run until January. "The fact Adam Johnson and Ashley Young did so well at Watford, sometimes I can point to that," added Boothroyd. "I think Danny, without putting too much pressure on him, reminds me a lot of Adam, in fact slightly bigger physically and perhaps could be a better player." Boothroyd is hopeful both men will have signed on at the Ricoh Arena in time to face local rivals Leicester on Saturday.
