Whites boss says defender must first return to fitness

Leeds manager Simon Grayson has admitted Patrick Kisnorbo will not get a new contract until he has proved his fitness. The 29-year-old Australian defender is currently sidelined after rupturing his Achilles during a defeat to Millwall back in March, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season. It was a serious injury which ruled him out of this summer's World Cup and he is not expected back for at least another month. Whites boss Grayson has hailed the impact Kisnorbo has had since his arrival at the club, but says talks over a new deal will not start until his recovery. "It has to be a two-way thing. We have to be loyal to Paddy and try to sort something out because he has been fantastic for us," he said in The Sun. "But, equally, he has to understand we cannot really offer him a contract until he has proved he is back to full fitness. "I've a great relationship with Paddy, though, where we can be totally honest with each other and do whatever we can." Kisnorbo signed for Leeds last summer after being released from Leicester, and he played an important part in the club's promotion campaign last time out.
