Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is on top of the world after capping his Premier League debut with a goal against Wigan Athletic.
The Ghana international cost the Black Cats a club record £13million after joining from French side Rennes before the transfer window closed.
He made his debut at the DW Stadium on Saturday and showed fans what manager Steve Bruce has splashed the cash on with a deft finish to fire his new club ahead - although Wigan fought back for a 1-1 draw.
Gyan has reserved praise for midfielder Jordan Henderson for his efforts in the build-up to the goal, a strike which he has labelled one of the best of his career.
"I think my goal was really nice. Perfect," he told the Sunderland Echo.
"The goal was very, very amazing and it was great that it was for my new club.
"Jordan (Henderson) did so well, taking one man on and producing a perfect cross to create my goal.
"It was one of my best goals, though - I don't score goals like that all the time!"
Sunderland did it the hard way after Lee Cattermole was sent off and Gyan was delighted with Sunderland's display away from home despite being a man light.
Gyan thought the dismissal could hinder his chances of getting on the field and he has thanked Bruce for giving him a chance to shine, something he was able to repay with a goal.
"It was really, really difficult for us after having a man sent off in the first half and, being a striker, I did not expect to get on because of that," Gyan admitted.
"I thought it was possible I might get on with 20 minutes to go, but the manager did so well tactically and I thank him for having confidence in me.
"The manager knows I am a typical number nine who can keep the ball on the flanks for the rest to join in.
"That was what he planned and it worked for him. I am someone who is unpredictable. I can score a goal at any time.
"Physically, I was on my feet and I did a dance after the goal, but I was really tired and did not want to continue."
