Seasiders striker unfazed by Stamford Bridge test

Luke Varney claims Blackpool plan to 'enjoy' their trip to league leaders Chelsea on Sunday. The Seasiders could be forgiven for feeling apprehensive ahead of a visit to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues having made a perfect start to the season. Ian Holloway's men have enjoyed a productive opening of their own, though, and plan to head to the capital with their heads held high. This is exactly the sort of contest Blackpool plan to make the most of, having finally clambered their way onto the top rung of the Football League ladder. They were crushed 6-0 on their last day out in the capital, at Arsenal, but have taken seven points from their four fixtures so far and sit inside the Premier League's top four.

Attitude

With that in mind, and with an impressive 2-0 victory at Newcastle last time out having done wonders for team morale, Varney is confident Blackpool can go to Chelsea and give a good account of themselves. He said: "We spoke before about what we wanted from these two games and to be honest I would have taken a point from Newcastle but we can go to Chelsea now and enjoy ourselves. "We are going to go there with the same attitude, the same group, the same togetherness. "We're achieving a lot more than everyone was expecting so we'll be full of confidence and who knows what will happen?" He added: "It will be a daunting proposition too but we know we can go into the match on the back of Saturday's game with a lot of confidence."
