Swiss front man to be sidelined for six months

Nurnberg have been dealt a major blow after learning an injury sustained by striker Albert Bunjaku is more serious than first feared. Bunjaku was expected to be sidelined for six weeks after undergoing an operation on Wednesday to cure a meniscus problem on his knee. But the surgery also revealed the 26-year-old is suffering from cartilage damage. The op cleared up the additional problem but will see the Switzerland international sidelined for up to six months. General manager Martin Bader said the loss of Bunjuka was a massive loss, with the player not expected back before the Bundesliga's winter break. Bader told Sportinformationsdienst: "We have been updated on the extent of Albert's injury. "Receiving this news is extremely disappointing to hear for Albert and Nurnberg. It's a big blow, Albert is important to our first-team."
